Born into difficult circumstances Sinethemba along with his fellow peers on the street, have had to develop a real understanding of the rhythm of the streets. With such an oversaturated population of people who are unemployed it has been particularly hard to make ends meet. Sinethemba has often mentioned how 2014 has been a particular challenge in collecting money.

This is due to the new bylaw endorsed by the Makana Municipality which prohibits the washing of any vehicles on public roads.

Anyone who violates this order will be fined R200. The second legislation which has made it rather difficult to earn money, is the collection fee of R350 placed on the donkeys by the SPCA.

This collection fee was implemented by the SPCA as a way to crack down on the number of stray donkeys. These animals are often used by the street kids to carry firewood for them to sell or provide lifts to nearby stores for students.
